The photograph above is a HANDMADE print in the strictest sense. It is a cyanotype. It is the same process that you see at the top of the Methodology page. Cyan for the blue tonal variations of the print. The cyanotype process was invented by Sir John Herschel in 1842. It is a combination of 2 chemicals mixed in water then spread in equal parts onto the paper with a brush. The paper is dried. The negative is then placed on top of the paper and exposed to ultraviolet light (sunlight). Afterward, the paper is developed and washed and the result is the beautiful gradations of blue that you see. The cyanotype process is one of the most permanent processes there is, impervious to most atmospheric pollutants. There are many examples from the 1840s that are still in pristine condition. This process gives the image an antique look which compliments certain subject matter. If this is something you'd be interested in please contact me for more info regarding cyanotypes.

Thank you for your interest in my work. Here goes: I shoot exclusively on film. I use an old style camera with a bellows. Ninety nine percent of my work is done with natural light on location. After the session I develop the film in my darkroom, then scan the negatives. I send you the scans. You choose which print or prints you would like. I print them in my darkroom on museum weight silver paper then tone them for archival permanence. THESE ARE NOT DIGITAL PRINTS FROM A COMPUTER PRINTER!!! THESE ARE HANDMADE, ONE OF A KIND, TRADITIONAL DARKROOM PRINTS, PRINTED BY YOURS TRULY IN A WET DARKROOM AND WILL OUTLAST DIGITAL PRINTS BY CENTURIES AFTER YOU'RE GONE!
The finished printed is then matted on 4 ply acid free museum rag board and is ready for framing. If you are interested in having something that will live on as a piece of art, film and wet darkroom printing is still the gold standard. If you choose either a gold or platinum package you will receive a signed copy of my book with a photograph from your session included in the book at no additional charge. The book is 7 inches by 7 inches, hardbound with a dust jacket. A very nice gift. If you'd like to preview the book click on the "book preview" button below and you can see the images. If you are interested in scheduling a photo session either boudoir or portrait I can be reached via email through the contact page or by cell phone at 412 656 6320. Prices for all photo sessions are listed below. I look forward hearing from you.
